THURSDAY – SEPT. 19th
Departing from Camden we’ll spend today getting to know each other and letting the excitement build as
we travel thru Kentucky into Missouri. The Gateway To The West, the St. Louis Arch, will greet us about
lunch time. As we pass thru St. Louis you’ll know that we’re officially on our way. (Meals included today:
D). You will see a “Meals” guide at the end of the day’s events. “B” is breakfast, “L” is lunch, & “D” is
dinner. Today, for example, dinner is included in your tour price.
FRIDAY – SEPT. 20th
After a delicious breakfast at our hotel this morning, we’ll point our motor coach north and travel up thru
Iowa and into South Dakota. Hundreds of thousands of acres of corn and their famous “amber waves of
grain” wave at us as we travel to our destination for the evening. Tonight we’ll stay at a beautiful Lodge on
the banks of the “Wide Missouri”. This should be a special evening as we’ve arranged for an old fashioned
“steaks on the grill” catered cookout on the river’s banks. Now, settle in and get a good night’s rest
because tomorrow’s a day full of adventure. (Meals: B & D)
SATURDAY – SEPT. 21st
This morning we’ll enjoy another hot breakfast before we depart for The Badlands of South Dakota. Bring
plenty of film. After our tour of this rugged northwestern terrain, we’ll stop for lunch at the world famous
Wall Drug Store in Wall, SD. Featured on all major TV networks, popular magazines and newspapers
worldwide, it was the place to stop for free ice water during the dust bowl and the Great Depression. After
lunch it’s on to Mt. Rushmore. Afterwards we’ll head to our comfortable hotel in the old western town of
Keystone, SD. (Meals: B)
SUNDAY – SEPT. 22nd
As they say, “You ain’t seen nothing yet”! After yesterday’s collection of scenery and attractions - what
next? Anything scheduled today would have a tough act to follow, but what you’ll see today might just be
more beautiful than anything you’ve ever seen before. First, there’s the Devil’s Tower. Then after traveling
thru more of beautiful South Dakota this morning, we’ll enter “Big Sky Country” – the beautiful state of
Montana just after lunch. We will overnight in Billings, MT (Meals: B & D).
MONDAY – SEPT. 23rd & TUESDAY – SEPT. 24th
I am sure you will enjoy these days as much as I always do. We will take a short drive from Billings,
Montana to West Yellowstone, Montana where we will overnight for the next two nights. West Yellowstone
is just about 15 miles from the main western entrance of Yellowstone National Park and an interesting
small town. From our hotel, we can walk to all corners of the town..First we will stop in West Yellowstone
with plenty of time for shopping this Western town and having lunch before settling into our comfortable
hotel right down town.
Also Tuesday we have added a visit to the Grand Tetons National Park and a visit to Jackson Hole, WY.
You just won’t believe the beautiful drive today. (B included both days)
WESNESDAY – SEPT. 25th
You’ve heard about it, you’ve seen it on television, but today it’s really real. Entering Yellowstone from the
West, you’ll see a lot of the park, including some of the more than 10,000 boiling springs, mud pots and
geysers and, of course, “Old Faithful”. In fact, our lunch will be at the park lodge right at “Old Faithful”.
Enjoy “Old Faithful” while eating lunch and then go outside and see it up close and personal. Watch for
black grizzly bears, bald eagles, & herds of buffalo or elk as we travel thru the park. After leaving the park
we will head back to Billings, MT where we will again overnight. (Meals: B)
THURSDAY - SEPT. 26th
Today’s we’ll head back to Rapid City, SD, where we’ve got a very big day planned for tomorrow. We
will spend two nights in Rapid City. The scenery will be breathtaking today. (Meals: B & D)
FRIDAY – SEPT. 27th
Today we board our bus to go to a special breakfast and our ride thru Custer National Park in search for
huge buffalo herds and other wild animals.
In fact this year we will be in the park on the actual day of the annual buffalo round-up. Real life cowboys
will be herding thousands of head of buffalo from their park pastures into winter corrals. You will think you
are in a western movie.
Our travels take us thru the prairie and ponderosa pine studded hills that harbor many of the park’s
abundant wildlife species. Look for while-tailed and mule deer, big horn sheep, prairie dogs, mountain
lions, free roaming burros and, of course, face to face with buffalo. We will take the narrow passage thru
“The Narrows” – a tunnel so narrow that buses can only clear it by inches on either side passing thru. We
will have an included lunch in Custer National Park.
This afternoon we will visit the Crazy Horse Memorial and watch a movie concerning its development.
Later tonight we’ll enjoy a foot stomping western style chuckwagon dinner show. This will be a very special
evening. (Meals: B, L & D)
SATURDAY – SEPT. 28th
Our morning begins with us headed homeward but we’re still on vacation and have lots to see. Today we
will visit a very special mystery stop. We will overnight in Mitchell, SD. (Meals: B)
SUNDAY – SEPT 29th
Today we will head toward Kansas City where we will overnight. We’ll see the house where Jesse James
was killed this afternoon. (Meals: B & D)
MONDAY – SEPT. 30th
This morning we’ll point our coach homeward, arriving home late afternoon. North Dakota, Montana,
Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, South Dakota, & Wyoming, will be the list of States that we’ll actually be
in during this vacation. During our journey home today, we’ll play games, watch movies, and relive all the
beautiful sights we’ve seen and cherish the new friends we’ve made. (Meals B)
