May 3 thru May 15, 2013

We first offered this tour last year and it was an immediate success.  We’ve had more compliments on this tour
than for any NEW tour we’ve offered in years.  The Canadian Rockies do not compare to the Colorado
Rockies as the Canadian range is much larger and higher and feature more exposed rock formations than
anywhere we’ve ever seen.
And, this year we’ve added more photo stops than previously.

We’ll Travel By Amtrak & By Luxury Motorcoach On This Tour
We’ll travel to and from Chicago on our new  “BIG RED” luxury motorcoach with reclining seats, large picture
windows, VCR monitor, PA system, and, an on board rest room for your comfort. Our new coach also boost
hardwood floors, black leather seats, free Wi-Fi, electrical outlets at every seat and seat belts.  Our hotels will
always be first class since we stay only at Three & Four Star rated properties. And, you can book your
reservation in confidence, because with our optional Travel Protection Coverage, should you have to cancel
for a covered illness or other covered family emergency, you can get a full refund
with no deductibles.  More about this later.

FRIDAY – MAY 3rd
This morning we will depart Camden with Chicago as our destination tonight. We’ll check into our hotel and
rest up for our Amtrak adventure tomorrow (Meals: D) You will see a “Meals” guide at the end of the day’s
events.  “B” is breakfast,  “L” is lunch, & “D” is dinner.
Today, for example, dinner is included in your tour price.

After a delicious breakfast at our hotel this morning, we’ll head to the Amtrak station where we’ll catch the
afternoon Amtrak “Empire” for our overnight trip to Montana.  The prices quoted on this brochure include
Amtrak’s Reserved Coach Car seating.  We will spend one night on the train (one night each way) to and from
Montana.  Amtrak’s seats are very large and comfortable.  The seats recline and have a “pull up” foot rest
(much like a Laz-Z-Boy chair).  Most travelers do elect to spend the night in this comfortable chair as the
Pullman sleeper compartments are limit and pretty expensive.  Delicious meals, as well as fast food type
(hamburgers and hot dogs, etc.,) are available for purchase on the train throughout the trip. (Meals: B)

Having traveled overnight through Wisconsin we awake to find ourselves in North Dakota this morning.
Crossing the plains, traveling over the spectacular Gassman Coulee Trestle, skirting the Missouri River, we
soon find ourselves in Big Sky country of Montana, arriving late afternoon in Havre where we will leave the
train and be transferred to our hotel where we will spend the night. (Meals: D)

Welcome to Calgary!  Today we travel from Montana crossing into Canada (Passport Required), referred to
as the Heart of the New West. Calgary is a vibrant city that offers the best of all worlds – a cosmopolitan city
of nearly one million with outstanding outdoor adventure and pristine wilderness only an hour away in the
Canadian Rockies.   (Meals: B)

Today we’ll pack up and start our Canadian adventure.  First off, we’ll visit the famous Calgary Tower before
leaving the city for the mountains.  As we leave, watch the Olympic city disolve into the foothills as the majestic
Rockies rise ahead.  We’ll pass by the Three Sisters, Fairholme and Rundle Ranges en-route to one of the
best known destinations in the Rockies – the charming mountain resort of Banff.

This afternoon is free time in Banff.  You can explore charming boutiques, visit galleries showcasing local
talent, buy those all important T-Shirts or just take a stroll along the historic Bow River.  Dinner tonight is
included and at The Keg Steakhouse.   (Meals: B & D).

Today we start with a sightseeing tour of Banff.  Banff National Park is renowned around the world as a
protected paradise of mountains, forests and lakes to explore.  In the heart of the Canadian Rockies, it attracts
roughly 4 million visitors each year.  It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Today’s sightseeing will highlight many local delights including Cascade Gardens, Bow Falls, the Hoodo
Lookout and Surprise Corner.

Plus, this afternoon we will ride up the Banff Gondola for a panoramic 360 degree view of the six surrounding
mountain ranges.  (Meals: B)

“Today’s A Very Special Day of Adventure”. Today we’ll have a full day of sightseeing to Jasper.  Highway 93,
known as the Icefields Parkway, qualifies as one of the most scenic drives IN THE WORLD.  Stretching about
140 miles from Lake Louise to Jasper, it traverses an unspoiled wilderness of more than 100 glaciers, pristine
lakes and some of the highest Rockies. We will pass Lakes Herbert, Hector, Bow and Peyto and other
splendid scenery including Crowfoot Glacier.

Then it’s on to the Columbia Icefields where an experience of a lifetime awaits.  A shuttle will transport us to
the Athabasca Glacier where we will board a unique, specially designed Ice Explorer for a guided tour onto the
surface of the Glacier – a true Ice Age adventure.  WOW.  Now we’ll continue northward towards Sunwapta
Falls and the peaceful mountain town of Jasper.  (Meals: B)

Todays schedule includes exploring the charming townsite of Jasper that developed from “Jasper House’, a
former settlement of three log supply houses for Rocky Mountain voyageurs.  Highlights today include Pyramid
and Patricia Lakes and the beautiful Maligne Canyon with its stunning limestone walls.  (Meals: B)

Todays schedule includes a full day of sightseeing of Yoho National Park & the Lake Louise area.  Our
sightseeing will include some of the most famous features in the Canadian Rockies.  We’ll visit Yoho National
Park & cross the Great Divide for a stop at the Spiral Tunnels viewpoint where three lines of railway are laid at
different elevations to cross the Kicking Horse River on four bridges (ok, sound confusing, but wait until you
see it).  Then there’s Emerald Lake and Takkakaw Falls to see before heading back to Lake Louise, often
referred to as the “Jewel of the Canadian Rockies”.

The famous Fairmont Chateau Lake Hotel proudly stands at one end of Lake Louise and the Victoria Glacier
reflects off the other Combined, this is one of the sights most often preserved in photograph by visitors from all
over the world and you’re going to enjoy a delicious lunch here followed by free time to explore the lakeshore
or to browse the unique boutiques in the hotel.

Last stop of the day will be at a photographer’s dream, Moraine Lake, located in the dramatic Valley of the Ten
Peaks. (Meals: B & L)

SUNDAY – MAY 12TH
What you have seen will stick in your mind for many years to come.  You’ll show your pictures to friends and
tell them that there’s no way the pictures can truly show the beauty you’ve seen.  But, sadly, we will think
about leaving and starting our journey homeward.  So, we’ll leave Lake Louise and travel back to Havre, MT
where we’ll spend the night after enjoying an official “Canadian Fairwell Dinner” together  (Meals: B & D)

MONDAY—May 13th  - Tuesday- May 14th – Wednesday-May 15th
(Monday)  Today we will be transported back to the Amtrak station for our ride back to Chicago. (B)
(Tuesday)  We’ll arrive back in Chicago this afternoon where we will again overnight. (Meals: 0)
