and letting the excitement build as we travel to Lawrence, KS by motorcoach where we will
overnight (Meals included today: D). You will see a “Meals” guide at the end of the day’s
events.  “B” is breakfast,  “L” is lunch, & “D” is dinner.

SATURDAY, SEPT 6TH    After a delicious breakfast at our hotel this morning, we’ll head
westward on thru Kansas and into Colorado.  We’ll have a delicious dinner before checking into
our hotel in Denver for the evening. (Meals:  B & D)

SUNDAY, SEPT. 7TH    After a hearty breakfast, we board our coach for the beautiful little town
of Georgetown, Colorado where we ride on the Georgetown Scenic Railroad.  This is an old-
time steam locomotive chugging its way up the canyon, hauling our train past the remains of
several gold and silver miles.  This short ride will take us over mountainous terrain requiring
trestles, cuts, fills, loops and curves of narrow gauge track.  Later today we’ll return to Denver
where you will enjoy overnighting again in this beautiful “Mile High City”. (Meals: B & D)

MONDAY, SEPT 8TH    This morning we will leave Denver and travel west
to our destination in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Our drive today takes us across the top of and thru the Colorado Rockies and has been called
“One Of The Top Ten Most Beautiful Drives In America”.  The above picture waa taken from our
drive recently thru the Rockies and along the Colorado River..     (Meals: B & D).

TUESDAY, SEPT 9TH   .  Todays adventures include our drive into the Red Mountains  This is
known as the highway with “the million dollar view”. The vibrant Red Mountains represents
some of the most unique and colorful geology in the San Juans.  As we drive thru Ouray and
head up the mountain, take a look back and you will feel as if you’re in the Swiss Alps.   You’ll
enjoy the unbelievable views of Imogene and Black Bear Peaks.  Then on to the Silverton-
Durango Railroad where we travel along the Animas River from Silverton to Durango winding
through spectacular and breathtaking canyons in the remote wilderness of San Juan National
Forest.  Historic Durango offers you a unique blend of shopping and dining that can only be
found in this charming Western town.  Then on to Pagosa Springs, CO for our overnight.
(Meals:  B)

WEDNESDAY, SEPT 10TH    Today, with cameras ready, we’ll ride the Cumbres & Toltec
Railroad, full operational steam railroad jointly owned by the states of Colorado and New
Mexico.  This ride is hidden away in a little-known corner of the southern Rocky Mountains, and
is a precious historic artifact of the American West.  Built in 1880 and essentially unchanged
since, the railroad is known around the world for its spectacular scenery, unique machinery and
historic structures. You’ll enjoy seeing spectacular scenery and an unspoiled landscape, as well
as the historic railroad structures preserved on the line dating back to the turn of the twentieth
century.  We travel into New Mexico and thru the town of Charma, NM before stopping in Osier,
CO for a hot lunch and then make our way to Antonito, CO.  Here we board our motorcoach at
Antonio Station and ride through the spectacular and famous scenic Toltec Gorge Valley.  We’ll
overnight in Alamosa. (Meals: B, L & D)

THURSDAY, SEPT 11TH    Here’s another great day of “riding the rails”.  We’ll ride the Royal
Gorge Railroad along the tumbling waters of the legendary Arkansas River deep within the
granite cliffs of the Royal Gorge as we travel to Colorado Springs, CO. where we will stay for the
next two evenings.  Tonight  we’ll have very special dinner near our hotel in Colorado Springs.
(Meals: B & D)

FRIDAY, SEPT. 12TH    Today we’ll visit the Garden of the Gods, a registered National Natural
Landmark located at the foothills of Pikes Peak.  Another train ride this afternoon as we take a
round trip ride to the top of Pike’s Peak on the Cog Railway. This ride travels along Ruston
Creek in Englemann Canyon.  The on board guides like to point out the various faces and
shapes (with a little bit of imagination) that can be seen in the giant boulders.  Dinner tonight is a
very special one at the Stagecoach Inn in Manitou Springs, Colorado. (Meals:  B & D)

SATURDAY, SEPT 13TH     Today we start home heading back to Lawrence, KS
where we will have dinner and overnight. (Meals: B & D)
