Park The Car - Climb On The Bus  - It’s Your Vacation – Relax And Enjoy The Week!

.•        Friday:    All aboard! Today’s the day we get acquainted with all those folks going with us.  As always,
we will travel on “BIG RED”, our new motor coach complete with large picture windows for unobstructed
viewing, plush leather reclining seats, hardwood floors, individual climate controls, VCR monitors, free Wi-Fi,
electrical outlets at every seat to keep your electronics charged and a bathroom for your comfort.
We’ll make regular rest stops and a lunch break each day of this tour.
We’ll overnight in Huntingdon, West Virginia for the next three nights.

Before checking into our hotel we’ll visit the Heritage Farm Museum & Village. You are in for a historical treat
as you step into a frontier cabin (ca 1850) and learn of a frontier life based on agriculture and barter. As you
tour from building to building the decades pass and you have witnessed 50 years of rapid change in American
life as we moved from an agrarian to an industrialized society.   (Dinner included tonight)

•        Saturday:      We’ll first visit the Blenko Glass Factory, one of the last producers of hand blown glass in
America.  Then it’s on south into the coalfields.  We’ll learn about the Matewan Massacre which occurred
during a labor dispute in 1920.  In opposition to the union, coal miners from across West Virginia tied red
bandanas around there necks and marched to Matewan in support against the union.  Did you know that from
this march, and those bandanas, that the phrase “Redneck” was first coined?

The Hatfield-McCoy feud lasted from 1863 until 1891 involving two families of the West Virginia-Kentucky
area along the Tug Fork of the Big Sandy River.  Three Hatfield’s and Seven McCoy’s were killed or executed
during this time. Our Hatfield & McCoy’s feud sites tour includes some of the actual sites and a history of the
events that occurred here in the back country of West Virginia. (Breakfast & Dinner)

•        Sunday:      This morning we depart for White Sulphur Springs and the Greenbrier Resort.  A National
Historic landmark, the Greenbrier Resort’s classic architecture, exquisite interior design, carefully sculpted
landscape, impeccable service and outstanding amenities have hosted distinguished guest
from around the world since 1778.

We’ll enjoy a marvelous lunch.  Slamming Sammy’s at the Golf Club offers spectacular views of three
championship courses and specializes in West Virginia and regional favorites.

During our visit a most unusual history tour awaits.  We’ll visit The Greenbrier’s Cold War Bunker.  Built by
the Eisenhower Administration, it was a Fall Out Shelter for Congress in the event of a Nuclear attack.  This
secret facility existed for 30 years, in plain sight, yet hidden from both hotel employees and guests.  It’s a
fascinating story and you will learn how the pantries were stocked and replenished with fresh produce and
supplies.  At any moment there was enough fresh water and food here to
support the entire House & Senate for 60 days.

You’ll also have plenty of time for shopping at the Tamarack Craft Center and a delicious dinner tonight.
(Breakfast, lunch & dinner today.)

       •        Monday:    This morning we board up and head homeward.
We’ll arrive back in Camden by 6 p.m. Today’s the day to relive all the good memories we’ve had this week.
And what about that food?  (Breakfast included)
