We’re taking reservations right now.
Have you ever seen the French Quarters? Do you like real Dixieland jazz? Have you ever had
coffee in the French Market? Have you ever tried real New Orleans style food? Have you ever
had a beignet for breakfast or a muffalata sandwich for lunch?
All of this & more is in store during this adventure.
And, on this tour we’re doing something unique. Since Mardi Gras is only a month away from
our visit, the city and businesses involved are in full preparation for the events and parades.
We’re going to visit Mardi Gras World and see all the dozens of floats being constructed and
prepared for the parade. This will be a very special and fun time. And, while you’re there you’ll
enjoy a snack included Mardi Gras traditional cake called “King Cake”.
Look at all we've got lined up for you this weekend!
Friday, February 11 - We'll leave Camden from our departure location at the Wal-Mart store,
Highway 641 N. in Camden at 7:00 a..m . We'll arrive in New Orleans late-afternoon at our
French Quarters area hotel. After check in & some time to freshen up,
we arranged some free time in the French Quarters. (Dinner included tonight)
Saturday, February 12 After our delicious breakfast, we'll board our coach for a full day of
adventure. A local, professional tour guide will join us this morning to give us a look at the New
Orleans that we've only heard about. Centuries old architecture sets the scene for a tour
through the city. Our guide will usher us through the city's most fascinating neighborhoods &
landmarks all the while sharing interesting facts & fabled stories you'll never forget. The French
Quarters, Jackson Square, the Cabildo, historic Esplanade Avenue & St. Louis Cemetery, the
“city of the dead” with its above ground tombs are just a little of what we’ll see on this great
tour. We’ll also visit the Katrina destroyed 9th Ward and see the damaged home of the great
entertainer Fats Domino who survived by staying in his attic crawl space for days.
After our lunch break, we’ll head out to the Destrehan Plantation. Established in 1787, and
listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it’s the oldest documented plantation home in
the lower Mississippi River Valley. Costumed guides will intrigue you with the legacy of the
Destrehan family and historic events that occurred at this site.
Now, let’s enjoy a little bit of “Pre-Mardi Gras” with a visit to Mardi Gras World. This is literally
the place where Mardi Gras magic is made. We’ll walk among towering figures of fantasy and
marvel at the skill and technology that animate the mega-floats.
Tonight there’s more free time for you to enjoy the French Quarters. (Meals: B)
Sunday, February 13 - Today will finish our memorable journey arriving in Camden at
approximately 6 p.m. allowing us plenty of time for movies and,
of course, a good nap or two. (Meals: B)
